On Saturday 10 October 2026 we headed down to the south coast for a night at SD Lounge in Fratton, Portsmouth. It’s one of the newer swingers clubs in Hampshire, and we’d heard good things, so when we were invited along to Dulci’s birthday night we jumped at the chance.
Here’s our honest, first-hand look at what SD Lounge is like inside, who it suits, and what to know before your first visit.
Quick note: despite the shared initials, SD Lounge has no connection to SwingDesire. We went along as guests, and this review is our own honest take.
First Impressions
SD Lounge sits on Goldsmith Avenue in Fratton, and the club itself is upstairs. Walk up the stairs and you come straight out into the heart of the venue: a big dance floor with seating set all the way around it.
The first thing that struck us was how clean and well finished everything was. It’s clear real thought has gone into the design. It looks smart, it feels comfortable, and nothing about it feels thrown together, which isn’t always the case with newer clubs.
Inside SD Lounge: The Layout
The layout is simple and works really well, which matters when you’re somewhere new and still finding your feet.
- The dance floor is the centre of the club, with seating around the edges so you can chat, people watch or take a breather without leaving the action.
- The bar is directly across from the dance floor, so you’re never far from a drink or a conversation.
- Lockers and toilets are close by, which makes arriving and settling in easy.
- A play room and dungeon sit off to the left.
- Three more rooms are on the right at the end of the dance floor, giving couples a choice of more private spaces.
For the birthday night, they’d also brought in a casino table. It was a lovely touch and a great icebreaker, especially for anyone who wasn’t quite ready to hit the dance floor straight away.
Why We Loved SD Lounge’s Size
SD Lounge isn’t the biggest club in the country, and honestly, we think that’s one of its strengths. It’s more than big enough to be comfortable, but compact enough that people naturally mix.
In our experience, groups in bigger venues can drift into their own corners and stay there all night. At SD Lounge, everyone ends up around the same dance floor and bar, so conversations start easily and you get to know people. If you’re nervous about your first time at a swingers club, a venue like this is a far less daunting place to start.
The Crowd and the Staff
The crowd was amazing. Friendly, welcoming and up for a good night, with a real sense that people were there to enjoy themselves and each other’s company. We found it easy to strike up conversations from the moment we arrived.
The staff were great too: attentive, friendly and clearly proud of the place. Hosts Dulci and Seb made everyone feel welcome, and that sets the tone for the whole night.
Dress Code
On the night we went, the dress code was smart and sexy, and everyone made a real effort. It can vary depending on the theme, so check the details for the night you’re booking before you plan your outfit.
Drinks and Prices
The bar was fairly priced, which is always appreciated. When we checked their booking page in October 2026, tickets for most themed nights started from £15, with special events priced a little higher, so it’s an affordable night out compared with a lot of clubs.
Membership: What You Need to Know
SD Lounge runs on a membership basis, which the club says is required for its licence. Membership needs approval before you can pay, so apply well ahead of the night you want to go.
When we checked in October 2026, couple memberships started at £5 a month or £15 a quarter. If you’d like to try it before committing, there’s a day membership option for £5, limited to three events a year. Check the club’s SD Lounge booking page for the latest prices and options.
Themed Nights and Events
SD Lounge runs a busy calendar of themed nights, which is a big part of its appeal. When we visited in October 2026, the line-up included:
- Frisky Freaks Night, 17 October
- Naughty Forties, 24 October
- Angels & Demons Halloween party, 31 October
- LGBT+ Party, 13 November
- A free event, 21 November
- The Secret Society, 28 November
Dates change through the year, so check the club’s booking page for what’s coming up next. Themed nights are a great way to visit for the first time. Everyone has something to talk about from the moment they arrive.
Swinging in Portsmouth: Where SD Lounge Fits
For swingers in Portsmouth and across Hampshire, having another welcoming club to visit is always good news. SD Lounge is a great addition to the local lifestyle scene.
It suits couples and singles who want a sociable, relaxed night with play spaces available, rather than a huge venue where it’s easy to feel lost. If you enjoy a social first and play second approach, it’s well worth a visit. Not sure which suits you best? Our guide to swinger socials vs swingers clubs can help.

Our Verdict
We had a genuinely lovely evening at SD Lounge. It’s clean, well designed, fairly priced and, most importantly, full of friendly people. The layout makes it easy to mingle, the play spaces give you options, and the little extras, like the casino table, show a team that cares about the experience.
We’re not saying SD Lounge is the best club in the UK. Every club has its own feel, and the right one depends on what you’re looking for. But if you’re in Portsmouth, Southampton or anywhere along the south coast and want a welcoming, sociable night out, it’s well worth a visit. We’ll definitely be back.
Our rating: 4.5 / 5

Thank you to Dulci, Seb and the whole SD Lounge team for having us, and happy birthday, Dulci!
