Purple Mamba Review: Inside Nottingham’s Swingers Club

On Saturday 24 October 2026 we drove three hours to Purple Mamba in West Bridgford, Nottingham, for the Hotwife Soiree: Hot Halloween Takeover.

We’ll be upfront: a hotwife event isn’t really our thing, as single men aren’t something we’re into ourselves. But we’d been invited, and five other event hosts we know were heading there too. The lifestyle is a community, and part of being in a community is turning up for each other, so we went to support the night, catch up with friends and see the club for ourselves.

We’re glad we did. This is our honest write-up of Purple Mamba, the night and what you need to know before you go.

Purple Mamba Review: Our First Impressions

Purple Mamba is on Radcliffe Road in West Bridgford, just south of Nottingham city centre, down a side road with several car parks close by. We got there early and had a warm welcome at the door, then walked straight into the bar area.

We were shown round straight away, which we always appreciate at a new club. You get your bearings before it fills up, and you’re not wandering about later trying to work out where everything is. There’s the usual cloakroom and a changing room with lockers, so you can arrive dressed for the street and get ready inside.

The first thing you notice is that it’s a small club. But small doesn’t mean cramped, and it was still a genuinely nice space.

Inside Purple Mamba: One Big Loop

What Purple Mamba does really well is the layout. It’s essentially one big circle, and once you’ve walked it, it all makes sense.

From the bar you pass the toilets and head upstairs to a lounge area for play, then on through a series of rooms. One of them is a cinema room. It has the option to show what’s happening on the TVs downstairs, but only if the people in the room choose to turn it on. Nothing is recorded, it’s entirely your choice, and if you’d rather keep things private, you simply don’t use it. It’s certainly a talking point. There’s another play room after that, then the dungeon (more on that below), and at least one more room before you head back down.

Downstairs there’s another play room, then the dance floor, and you’re back at the bar where you started.

We’ll be honest, on paper a small club with that many rooms sounds like it could feel like a maze. In practice, it works really well. People flow round naturally, nowhere feels like a dead end, and you’re never far from the bar or the dance floor if you just want to socialise.

The Dungeon: Seriously Well Stocked

We’ve seen a fair few dungeons now, and Purple Mamba’s is one of the best equipped we’ve come across. It’s packed with toys, floggers and kit, and it’s all quality gear, not the cheap stuff you sometimes see. The cross in particular is really nicely done.

The man behind it all also happens to be the barman, and he was a lovely fella. He showed us round his collection, then did some rope work on Soph, which was very good. We came away with some genuinely useful tips.

Soph also tried electro stim for the first time. We weren’t sure what to expect, but she was pleasantly surprised, and it was clear he knew exactly what he was doing. Everything was explained first, checked as he went, and done at her pace.

That was our experience on the night, so don’t go expecting a guaranteed session. But if you’re curious about kink and the right people are around, it’s the kind of place where you might get to try something new with someone who knows their stuff.

The Crowd: Relaxed, Respectful and Fun

There were over 20 single men there, and what stood out to us was how relaxed and respectful everyone was.

Nobody was pushy, nobody made us feel uncomfortable, and everyone understood boundaries. We’ve always had positive experiences with the single men we’ve met in the lifestyle, and this night was no different.

For us, it reinforced something we’ve believed for a while: it’s not about how many single men are there, it’s about the atmosphere a venue creates and how everyone treats one another. On our night, Purple Mamba got that spot on.

If you’re a single man wondering how to be the kind of guest every club wants back, our guide on how to succeed as a single man in the swinging lifestyle covers exactly that.

The DJ, the Games and My Lap Dance Defeat

The DJ was good, kept the dance floor going and also ran the games during the night.

At one point, Soph and I and another couple were called up. Importantly, we were asked, not just pulled out. It’s a small thing, but it matters, and consent was respected throughout. The game was simple: the best lap dance won free drinks. The twist was that the men had to do the dancing.

I lost. Badly. But it got the whole room laughing and joining in, which was the point, and it broke the ice in exactly the way a good club game should.

  • Membership: Annual membership is £40 for 2026, and you must be over 21. Our night was open to members or guestlist, which is how we went, but don’t assume every event works that way. Check Purple Mamba’s website before you go.

Swinging in Nottingham: Where Purple Mamba Fits

Nottingham has a busy lifestyle scene, and Purple Mamba is one of its best-known venues. It’s the kind of club that suits people who like a personal, intimate night over a huge venue, and it’s especially good if you’re interested in kink, thanks to that dungeon.

It’s also well placed for the wider East Midlands. Derby, Leicester, Loughborough and Mansfield are all within easy reach, so it’s a realistic option for couples and singles across Nottinghamshire and beyond, not just in the city itself.

Getting to Purple Mamba

  • Parking: There are several car parks within a short walk of the club.
  • By train: Nottingham station is in the city centre, a short taxi ride from West Bridgford.
  • Staying over: There are plenty of hotels in Nottingham city centre and around West Bridgford. Book early for big event nights.
  • From further afield: We drove three hours and thought it was well worth it. If you’re travelling a distance, staying over makes the night far more relaxed.

Would We Recommend Purple Mamba to Someone New?

Yes. It’s small, which makes it feel personal rather than overwhelming, and the staff go out of their way to show you round and look after you. If you’re new to swinging in Nottingham and want a club where you can find your feet, or you’re curious about kink and want to try something with people who know what they’re doing, Purple Mamba is a really good option.

Our Verdict

We went to a night that wasn’t our usual thing, mainly to support friends and the community, and we came away genuinely impressed. Purple Mamba is a small club with a clever layout, a dungeon that puts plenty of bigger venues to shame, and staff who clearly care about the people walking through the door. Most of all, the crowd was respectful from start to finish. Every night has its own crowd, so we can only speak for ours, but it left us keen to go back.

Our rating: 4.7 / 5. It was well worth the three-hour drive, and we’d go back.

If you’re in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire or anywhere in the East Midlands and looking for a swingers club with personality, put Purple Mamba on your list.
