We’ve spent the last two years going to clubs, socials and parties all over the country, and there’s one big city we’ve been itching to explore properly: Manchester.
We’ll be honest straight away. We haven’t been to Manchester’s clubs yet. That’s about to change, and when it does, we’ll come back and update this guide with what we actually find. Until then, this is everything we’ve learned about swinging in Manchester and Greater Manchester: the clubs, the socials, how to meet people and what to know before your first night out.
Where something comes from a club’s own website or from friends who’ve been, we’ll say so. When we’ve been ourselves, you’ll know, because we’ll tell you exactly what we thought.
Swingers in Manchester: The Local Scene at a Glance
Greater Manchester is home to around three million people, and it has a large, well-established lifestyle scene. Rather than everything being packed into the city centre, the clubs are spread across the wider area: Swinton in Salford, and Rochdale and Bury to the north.
That spread is actually a good thing. Wherever you are in Greater Manchester, from Stockport and Trafford to Bolton, Wigan and Oldham, you’re likely to find a club within reach. And the scene doesn’t stop at the city’s edge. It’s within reach of Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and West Yorkshire too, so the bigger nights can be worth the trip.
The venues themselves vary a lot. Some are spa-style clubs with pools, saunas and jacuzzis. Others are more about the dance floor and themed party nights. That variety means there’s a good chance of finding somewhere that suits you, whether it’s your first night out or your fiftieth.
Swingers Clubs in Manchester and Greater Manchester
These are the clubs we’ve researched so far. We haven’t been to any of them yet, so everything below comes from the clubs’ own websites and listings. Opening nights and rules change, so always check with the club before you go.
Cupids, Swinton
Cupids is on Sutherland Street in Swinton, Salford, about ten minutes from Manchester city centre. It describes itself as a private venue for open-minded adults and says it has more than 30 years of experience behind it.
According to the club, there’s a licensed bar, private playrooms and a dungeon, and it runs regular themed events, including couples and single female parties and newbie nights for people taking their first steps. That last one is worth knowing about if you’re nervous: a night where everyone else is new too takes a lot of the pressure off.
Cupids is the club we’re planning to visit first, so expect a full review once we’ve been.
Decadance, Rochdale
Decadance in Rochdale opens several nights a week. Its website lists a sauna, jacuzzi, naked pool, dungeon, massage table and licensed bar, along with themed party nights.
The club says it doesn’t operate a membership or guestlist system, and it’s clear that sex is never guaranteed and plenty of guests come just to socialise. Its site also mentions single ladies get free entry. Check its policies on the night you plan to go, as entry for different guests can vary.
Partners, Bury
Partners is in a quiet suburb about a mile from Bury town centre. It leans towards the spa side of things, with pools, a sauna and well-equipped private rooms spread across several areas, each with its own feel.
If you’re the kind of couple who likes to unwind in a pool or sauna before deciding whether to explore further, Partners sounds like it could suit you.
Which Club Is Right for You?
There’s no best club, only the one that suits you. Going on what each venue says about itself, here’s how we’d think about it:
- Nervous first-timers: look for a newbie or beginners’ night. Cupids runs them, and they’re one of the easiest ways to start.
- Spa lovers: if pools, saunas and jacuzzis are your idea of a good night, Partners in Bury and Decadance in Rochdale both lean that way.
- Party people: if you want a busy dance floor and themed nights, check each club’s events calendar and pick a big night. In our experience, themed nights are where everyone makes the most effort and mixes the most.
- Into kink: Cupids and Decadance both list a dungeon.
Whichever you choose, read the club’s rules before you go: entry, dress code, whether there’s a bar or it’s bring-your-own, and who’s welcome on which nights. Our guide on how to choose the right club goes into more detail.
Socials, Parties and Events Around Greater Manchester
Clubs aren’t the only way in. Some of the best nights in the lifestyle are run by independent organisers, who take over a venue for a themed party or host a relaxed social in a bar or function room.
If you’ve never been to anything before, a social is the easiest starting point. There’s no pressure beyond a drink and a chat, and you’ll meet more genuine people in one evening than in weeks of messaging. We explain the difference in Swinger Socials vs Swingers Clubs.
The easiest way to find what’s on near you is our Events page, where organisers can list their parties and socials for free. It’s also worth checking clubs’ own calendars, as many host takeover nights by outside organisers, and those tend to draw the biggest crowds from across the North West.
How to Meet Other Swingers in Manchester
The biggest thing we’ve learned in two years of going out is that the lifestyle is a community, not a catalogue. The people who meet others easily aren’t the ones sending the most messages. They’re the ones who turn up, get to know people and become familiar faces.
In a city the size of Manchester, that matters even more. A few things that work:
- Fill in your profile properly and use recent photos that actually look like you.
- Send messages people can reply to. Mention something specific, like a club they go to or a night you’re both attending.
- Go to socials and club nights, and go back. Familiar faces get replies.
- Make friends first. The people you click with over a drink are usually the ones it works with later.
We’ve written a full guide on how to actually meet people in the swinging lifestyle if you want the detail.
Couples and Singles: Finding Your Place in the Scene
Manchester’s scene has room for everyone, but every club and event sets its own rules about who can come on which night. Some nights are couples only, some are couples and single women, and others welcome everyone. It’s not personal. It’s how organisers keep the balance right so the night works for all their guests.
- Couples will find the widest choice of nights, including beginners’ and couples-focused events.
- Single women are welcome on most nights at the clubs we’ve researched, and Decadance, for example, says single ladies get free entry.
- Single men can absolutely be part of the scene. Check which nights you can attend, book ahead where needed, and be the respectful guest every club wants back. Our guide on how to succeed as a single man in the swinging lifestyle covers exactly that.
If you’re a single woman exploring for the first time, our guide to swinging as a single woman is a good place to start.
First Time? What to Know Before Your First Night Out
Everyone was new once, including us. A few things make a first night much easier:
- Talk to each other first. Agree your boundaries before you leave the house, not halfway through the night. Our guide to setting boundaries before your first experience helps with that conversation.
- Go with no expectations. Most of our nights out have been purely social, and we’ve loved almost every one. Go expecting a good night, not expecting something to happen.
- Check the club’s rules. Entry, ID, dress code, and whether it’s a licensed bar or bring-your-own all vary.
- No means no. A polite “no thanks” is the end of it, and taking one well earns you a good reputation fast.
Our guide to your first time at a swingers club covers everything else, from what to wear to what actually happens inside.
Meeting Verified People Before You Go
One of the best ways to settle the nerves before a new club is to know a few faces in the room before you walk in.
That’s a big part of why we built SwingDesire. Every approved SwingDesire member completes ID and facial verification, so the people you’re chatting to are who they say they are. You can join local groups, see what events are coming up and get to know people in Greater Manchester before you meet them in person.
We’re still growing, but we’ve made verification compulsory from day one. For us, building a genuine community matters far more than simply having impressive membership numbers. Joining is free.
Getting Around Greater Manchester
- By car: most of the clubs are outside the city centre, so driving is often easiest. Check parking with the club before you go.
- By train and tram: Manchester has good rail links from across the North West and beyond, and the Metrolink tram network reaches a lot of Greater Manchester. For the last stretch to a club, a taxi is usually simplest.
- Staying over: if you’re travelling in, booking a hotel in the city centre or near the club makes the night far more relaxed. Book early for big event nights.
- Coming from further afield: Manchester is within easy reach of Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Cheshire and Lancashire, so it’s a realistic night out for a big chunk of the North.
Our Plans: Heading North to Explore Manchester
We’re planning our first visit to Cupids in Swinton, and we’ll write it up as a full Club Spotlight once we’ve been, just like we have for The Mirage, Curious Club, SD Lounge and Purple Mamba. As we visit more of Manchester’s clubs and socials, we’ll keep updating this guide with what we actually find.
If you run a club, social or event in Greater Manchester, we’d love to hear from you. Event organisers can list their nights on SwingDesire for free. And if you’re a member and you see us out, come and say hello.
